It all started in November with a text from Samantha Hassell, Director of Christian Education at Sturgis Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Sturgis, KY.  Samantha is a friend, and had noticed from Facebook posts that Sacred Sparks is collecting blankets and warm clothing for the homeless.  She thought Sturgis CP might want to help by doing a blanket/warm clothing drive. So Samantha organized the collection efforts and then invited me to drive up on December 18th to enjoy their children’s Christmas program, and to receive the gifts they had to offer to this ministry. On the day I was to drive up, I got another text from Samantha asking how big my car was…I knew then that Sacred Sparks was about to be blessed by this generous church family with a heart for the homeless!! The offering of 46 blankets, 142 pairs of socks, 10 coats, 63 pieces of warm clothing, 3 emergency blankets, a pillow, a sleeping bag, and the cash donations are evidence that Sturgis meant business!! As you can see from the pictures, there was only room for a driver coming home!!

Thanks so much to this wonderful church family and to Rev Victor and Samantha.  The friends that Sacred Sparks ministers to, over 2 1/2 miles away, that you will likely never meet, will be forever blessed by your outpouring of love!
