About

Sacred Sparks Banner (JB)

Who:  Rev. Lisa Cook is an ordained Cumberland Presbyterian minister serving as a street chaplain who ministers to the homeless community of Nashville and beyond.

What: The service and ministry takes the form of (1) being present and building relationships with our friends in the homeless community, (2) providing real opportunities for spiritual growth through worship, study, and pastoral care, and (3) providing outreach and basic necessities  for survival,  shelter, and well-being.

Where: Serving in Nashville, TN and surrounding areas, as needed.

Why:  God called me to ordained ministry in 2009, however my specific call was still to be revealed. I enrolled at Memphis Theological Seminary to prepare for ministry, as my call discernment began. In 2011 I decided to leave a 22 year career in the corporate world to become a full-time seminarian. It was during this time that God’s specific call on my life to serve the homeless community began to be revealed. Following affirmation and approval of my call by Nashville Presbytery of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church, I founded “Sacred Sparks Ministry” in November of 2013 and look forward to a lifetime of service.”   ~ Chaplain Lisa

How:  Sacred Sparks Ministry relies first and foremost on God and your prayers for the ministry to exist and to serve God’s purpose, so please pray!!

  • Also, because there is no salary for this ministry, donations are also needed in the form of financial support, which allows the service and outreach to continue:

Blessings to you for understanding the need to allow pets in the shelter. We are all the same when it comes to basic needs. My prayer for you, to break the barriers in the community and government stopping you from doing what we all should be doing, helping our fellow man.
